Youth Instructor for Youth Ages 6-16

Commonwealth Circus Center is currently hiring a youth circus instructor who specializes in teaching youth ages 6-16 years old. We are seeking an instructor who is experienced, enthusiastic, and community-minded, and able to work morning classes on both weekdays and weekends.

Job Description:

Applicants should have at least two years of teaching experience in youth circus arts and should have strong classroom management ability. Preference will be given to applicants with professional experience in child development, child psychology, and elementary, preschool, or adolescent education.

Our youth program is multi-disciplinary. In all youth classes we touch on the four broad disciplines of circus: aerial acrobatics, ground acrobatics, balance, and manipulation. Within this structure, we strive to foster a non-competitive athletic learning environment where students will explore physical theater and circus.

This youth instructor will teach circus classes in four age groups: 6-7 year olds, 8-9 year olds, 10-12 year olds, and13-16 year olds.

Classes are 75-80 minutes long, with time before and after class for setup and breakdown of equipment. The coach will be trained on how to set up each piece of equipment safely, and is expected to arrive 15 minutes early to have enough time for setup.
